Claire B Plays

Laugh Lines to Savour

About

Claire BonEnfant

Playwright/Lyricist/Screenwriter

I write clever comedies about serious themes for stage and screen. Fresh, funny, quirky and highly original scripts that resonate with unexpected depth. My current body of work includes four feature-length screenplays, three short film scripts, three musicals, four full-length stage plays and three one-act plays. Here you’ll find a one-sentence synopsis for each script. You can even listen to lyrics from my musicals, as well as a stand-alone song.

We all create meaning in our own way. My way is to write about complex characters who stumble from one question mark to the next. As they search for answers, I am guided by an indisputable truth: inquiring minds still want to laugh.

My one-act play, Lying on the Escarpment, was produced by Toronto’s Alumnae Theatre New Ideas Festival and later produced, along with Knock It Off!, at the Toronto Fringe Festival. Horizon was featured in Theatre Aurora’s Playwrights of Spring Festival. A 10-minute play, The Caw-Caw Conspiracy, was produced by the Fowl Plays Festival, Heartland Theatre, Bloomington, Illinois.

I live in Toronto, Canada.

A Flash in the Pan is a great deal of fun. It succeeds as a story that is entertaining, but also has heart.”
